OUR REFURBISHMENT PROJECT CONTINUES ……………

All the Chalets have now been re-roofed i.e. thatch replaced with Harvey Tiles, and looking very smart indeed.  In addition, work on the Central Complex and both Hotel wings are complete.

As far as our Chalets are concerned, and those who know will agree, maintenance is ongoing and the work is never quite done.

We have also started on our next large project i.e. re-tiling of our bathrooms and a total re-vamp as far as the Chalet Braai wells and equipment is concerned.
We searched high and low to find a match to the range currently in the Chalets and initially imported from Portugal but discontinued some time ago.  We have now found a suitable replacement and the completed bathrooms are looking very smart.

Unfortunately, nothing is ever as simple as it seems and as tiles were being removed in some of the bathrooms, it became apparent that, after twenty odd years, water-pipes needed replacing and repairing and a few other cracks in the armour, became obvious. However ………. When the going gets tough ………  and indeed, we did get going.

A similar problem arose on the patios.  As the old braai wells were being removed, bricks disintegrated which meant large sections of these walls had to be rebuilt, re-plastered and treated before re-painting could begin.  The entrance walls to the Chalets were also looking decidedly run down so while we were busy re-building etc, we decided to tackle said areas as well.   Although the additional work is time consuming, at least we know it will be a good few years before we will need to repeat this exercise.

….And then we decided to modify the surrounding gardens some what.  It will be interesting to hear what our guests think about the changes.  At this point, the majority of our visitors all agree   …..  the Resort is looking great!!

In 2008/2009, certain areas in our country were alerted to the fact that Cholera could become an issue.  Bushbuckridge and Hazyview were mentioned at that point and we immediately took the necessary steps to ensure that our guests would be safe as far as drinking water is concerned.  We had samples tested of all our water on the Resort and all samples tested absolutely safe for human consumption.  However, Hazyview being what it is, water remains one of the problems our local Municipality seems unable to master.  We quite often find ourselves without water and not only for an hour or so, sometimes for days on end.

We then made contact with a company in Johannesburg late in 2009 who supplied us with all the stats on a water filtration plant.  We now have our own storage tanks, whereby we pump water directly from the canal, which will be filtered and stored thus ensuring that all our guests at Sanbonani will always  have quality, clean & filtered water.  To the guys living in cities, this probably does not mean much after all – you turn on the tap and you get water.  In Hazyview, the one does not necessarily follow the other however; this could be a thing of the past.
